New Truck Purchase
On November 12, 1998, we accepted bids for a 1999 model year tandem axle
truck cab and chassis. We received bids from two truck dealers, Gate Volvo
of St. Cloud and Lakeland Truck Center of South St. Paul.
The bids are as follows:

Award both units to GATR Volvo of St. Cloud with the cost of the first unit
being $74,926.34 including sales tax. This unit would be paid for using
equipment certificates from 1999.
The second unit needs to be ordered now because the transmission for this
truck takes 12 to 14 months from order to delivery.
The total cost of unit number 2 is $82,387.72 including sales tax.
The dump box, hydraulic system, snowplow wing, sander, underbody blade,
and light system is supplied by J-Craft of Kimball, Minnesota, for a total
installed price of $48,353.13 per unit including sales tax.
J-Craft is an approved vendor under the state contract so we did not need to
go through the competitive bidding process with their bid. By taking bids on

the truck chassis and the equipment separately, we are able to save about
$450.00 in sales tax because J-Craft does not tax their installation labor.
This leaves a grand total of $123,279.47 for the 1999 unit and a total of
$130,740.85 for the 20'00 unit.
