The Parks and Recreation Master Plan Committee include Parks and Recreation Director
Michael Hecker,Recreation Manager Steve Benoit,Parks Supervisor Rodney Schreifels,Park
Planner Chris Leeseberg and Park Commission Members,Mark Ahlness and Ryan
Holmgren.
The time frame for this project is January 2014 to September 2014.
Elk River Parks and Recreation staff,along with planning consultant, Hoisington Koegler
Group Inc.,met Monday,May 5 with area artists and stakeholders to discuss the role of
public art in the community. The meeting resulted in a fruitful discussion identifying goals,
strategies,themes,potential locations as well as partnership opportunities.
Preliminary results of the community survey will be presented to the master plan committee
at a meeting on Monday,May 12. Mark and Ryan will report the highlights of this meeting
to the Parks and Recreation Commission on May 14.
A feedback session for the Trail Park Stewards, their volunteers and staff will be scheduled
in the coming month.
A focus group session (work session) for the Parks and Recreation Commission is scheduled
for Wednesday,June 11. This will be a work session scheduled at 5:30 pm prior to the
regular meeting.
A Community Open House is scheduled for Wednesday,June 25 at 5—8 pm. This will be a
public review and input on needs,priorities and the framework plan direction.
