No Action required. The Intern will be recommended to the City Council for hiring.
Background/Discussion
City staff has completed the EDA Marketing Interviews.A committee consisting of the Director of
Economic Development, the Human Resources Director and the Economic Development Specialist
conducted the interviews,where one candidate rose to the top. The committee is pleased to recommend
Jacquel Nissen to be hired as the EDA Marketing Intern.
Some of the projects the intern will be completing will be updating the EDA's social media sites, create a
"Map" of city processes as it relates to departments and time lines, develop the 2014 Community Profile
booklet and will help create a Strategic Marketing Plan.
Ms. Nissen currently is working on obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business from St. Thomas
University. She was an intern at Genesis Group Homes and is currently the Supervisor at Adventure Park
in Ham Lake.Jacquel has experience in marketing and event planning,which she will utilize in different
capacities as the EDA/HRA Marketing Intern. Her skills and experiences satisfied all the requirements of
the position. The internship will start later this month. The internship will be scheduled at 32 to 40 hours
per week and ends December 31,2014.
