Action Requested
Adopt,by resolution,Nature's Edge Business Center, Phase II construction plans and authorize staff to
advertise the project for bids.
Background/Discussion
As authorized at the February 18, 2014, City Council meeting, Hakanson Anderson and Associates has
completed the design of public improvements to support Phase II of the Natures Edge Business Center.
The improvements for this project include the construction of two new streets,including 168`''Lane NW
and an extension of Twin Lakes Road, construction of municipal trunk sewer and water facilities, storm
sewer and storm water treatment facilities, and mass grading of the proposed plat of Nature's Edge
Business Center to create five new lots.
Pending approvals, staff is proposing the following schedule to facilitate the completion of the project:
Approve Final Plans and Specifications June 16, 2014
Advertise Project for Bids June 21, 2014
Open Bids July 14, 2014
Consider Bids and Award Contract July 21, 2014
Begin Construction August 4, 2014
Finish Construction October,2014
Financial Impact
There is no cost associated with the requested action. When bids are received we will prepare a
comprehensive list of costs and breakdown of funding sources.

Resolution 14-
A Resolution of the City of Elk River Approving Plans and Specifications and
Ordering Advertisement for Bids in the Matter of the Nature's Edge
Business Center, Phase II Improvements
WHEREAS, Hakanson Anderson Inc., at the direction of the City Engineer,has prepared
plans and specifications for the Nature's Edge Business Center,Phase II Improvements,
which plans have been reviewed by the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River,Minnesota, as follows:
1. Such plans and specifications, a copy of which is attached hereto,and incorporated herein
by this reference, are hereby approved.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and obtain the publication of an advertisement for bids for
the making of the improvement pursuant to the attached plans and specifications. The
advertisement shall be published for 21 days, shall specify the work to be done, and shall
state the bids will be received by the City Clerk until 11:00 a.m. on July 14, 2014, at which
time the bids will be publicly opened in the Council Chambers of the City Hall by the City
Clerk and the City Engineer and will then be tabulated for consideration by the City Council
at a meeting thereof at 6:00 p.m. on July 21, 2014,in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a
cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City of Elk River in
the amount of 5% of the amount of such bid.
