City of Elk River MEMORANDUM TO: Park & Recreation Commi sion FROM: Michele McPherso , irector of Planning DATE: January 6, 2001 SUBJECT: Planning Retreat— Discuss Park User Survey Request The Commission is asked to consider the attached park user survey and the proposed work plan for implementing the surveys. Attachment • Draft Park User Survey • Calendar of Survey Dates • Proposed Work Plan As the park system in Elk River continues to develop, staff feels it is appropriate to survey the various park users as to the level of satisfaction with the current facilities and to identify future needs and desires. Staff proposes the following tasks to implement the proposed park user survey: 1. Facilities to be surveyed include: Woodland Trails Park, Youth Athletic Complex, Lions, and Orono Park. 2. Park rangers will be utilized to survey park users. Staff proposes that users will be surveyed over six weekends, beginning in June and extending throughout the summer. Depending on the number of park rangers we have available to us, we will attempt to survey approximately 500 park users over the six weekends proposed. Attached is a calendar of weekends that will be utilized. Once the survey results have been compiled, we will schedule a discussion item at a future Park & Recreation agenda.
