SUBJECT: Status Report— Park Department Subcommittee
Members of the Park Department Subcommittee will provide addition verbal updates
regarding the work to date. The Committee has reviewed salary and organizational
information from other communities. The Committee met with the park directors
from Monticello and the City of Victoria. The Committee has prepared the attached
• investigative questions and provides them to you in order to ask for further input on
this issue.

What do we currently have?
This includes a review of the Elk River Parks and Streets Department and
Community Recreation.
1. Why are we suggesting a change?
2. What will be different when the change is complete? Define the role of a Park
and Recreation Department Director.
3. How will the new department be organized? (What components and staff that
we already have will be utilized in this new structure?)
4. What is the cost of making these changes?(What monies are available to aid
in the transition?)
5. If we stay the same, what is missing? (Positive and negative)
6. Implementation Schedule?

Conclusion:
Include a summary of the effects of a fulltime Parks and Recreation Department Director
followed by a recommendation.
