Each board/council will review and bring back next month. b Community Recreation Deficit from 1991-1999 Lori provided reports indicating that we do not show a deficit at this time. Lori will call Sandy Booth at the District office and continue looking into this matter. 4. Staff Reports/Informational Updates—report enclosed a. Spring Programming b. Summer Programming • 5. Community Reports a. Elk River—none. b. Hassan Township—none. c. Otsego—none. d. Rogers—Wants to make sure that Community Education and Community Recreation are involved in facility discussions within the District. e. ISD 728 —Community Education received a$500,000 grant for family life center, which would be shared with Early Childhood Screening, WIC,Headstart,ECFE and ECSE. 6. Staff Report April 2001 • Michele Bergh Community Recreation Deficit from 1991-1999 We are continuing to look into this. We still believe there is not a deficit and the issue will require a lot more time to verify information. Lori Johnson has been working with Sandy Booth at the District office on this. Summer Programming We have completed our summer planning and the brochure went to the printer on April 6th. I have enclosed a copy of our pages for you to look at. We have added some additional theme day events as well as adding the Wiggles and Giggles program in Rogers that was a big hit last year in Elk River. We have also added a program call WOW! (Wonderful Outdoor World) at Woodland Trails Park which is in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club. They have an environmentalist who will be working with the participants at the park. The brochure will be delivered with the April 25th local paper. Our website is in the process of being updated and will be complete before the brochure is delivered. We have received bids back on our summer shirt order and are reviewing them now. A decision will be made by April 10th. Our shirt order is for approximately 1500 shirts. We will begin looking at staff needs over the next month and are currently accepting applications for summer employment.
