SUBJECT: Request by Crop Walk Organizers to Waive Park Facility Use Fee
At the request of Commissioner Huberty,this item has been placed on the agenda. The
Crop Walk organizers have requested that the$50 park facility use fee for Woodland Trails
Park be waived. The park facility use fee was established by Council resolution in January
2001. There was no differentiation between profit or not-for-profit groups. In other cities,
• the Council has the discretion to waive fee requirements for specific groups.
The Commission could recommend to the City Council that not-for-profit groups be
charged a lesser fee or no fee. Staff would recommend that the City establish a policy by
which specific groups would ask on a case-by-case basis that the fee be waived. This could
be done as part of their request to use the facility and could be forwarded through the Park
and Recreation Commission recommendation to the City Council for action.
Recommendation
Please provide further direction regarding this issue.
