SUBJECT: Request by Elk River Rotary; Contribution for the Handke Stadium
Renovation
Representatives from the Elk River Rotary Club will be in attendance at the May 9th meeting
to discuss a possible contribution by the City to the Handke Stadium Renovation project.
Attached please find a written narrative describing the overall project to renovate the
• Handke Stadium.
One of the activities proposed will be renovating the warming house and adding a gas-fired
fireplace for use of the warming house by the City's warming house attendants. This would
eliminate the need for the City to rent a warming house trailer for the Handke ice rinks. The
annual cost for trailer rental is approximately $700.
The total cost of the Handke Stadium Renovation project is approximately$104,000. To
date, the organizing committee has raised approximately $50,000. If the Commission
recommends contributing to the Handke Stadium Renovation Project, staff would
recommend that the amount be taken from the park equipment reserve fund.
