Request by the City of Elk River to Amend the Addition to
The Lions Park Shelter
As the Commission is aware,the City has been working with the Lions Club on planning an
addition to the Lions Park shelter. The City Council in 2000,approved a conditional use
• permit allowing a 4,000 square foot addition to the structure.
After further review and continued design work,staff has determined that additional office
space is needed in order to provide adequate space for growth for City Recreation(formerly
Community Recreation). The Elk River City Council approved providing additional funds
towards the addition in order to provide additional space. The new proposal is for 5,030
square feet as noted on the attached floor plan.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Park and Recreation Commission support approval of the
amendment to the Lions Park addition.
