Mr. Fox will be in attendance at the September 12, 2001 meeting to provide an update
regarding the activities discussed at the July meeting regarding the prairie planting and kiosk
construction at Gagne Park.

I. Gagne Park is being used for things that a public walking park should not be used for.
A. Dumping
1. piles of garbage
a. city has to haul out
2. old machine/car parts
a. I dragged a fender out of there
3. littering
a. every time I go there I leave with a shopping bag size collection
B. Motorized Vehicles
1. noise pollution
a. offends nearby residences
2. encourages growth of aggressive weeds(opens up the soil)
a. we are trying to make this a native prairie
3. landscape alterations
a. bike jumps don't make for the best walking trails
II. Plan to secure the parks so that these things won't happen.
A. Northern Prairie
1. main road
a. 500 ft. four strand tie wire fence
-t-posts 15 ft. apart
b. 8 or 12 ft. swinging gate where roads fork
- hinged and hooked on 8 ft.6x6's cemented into ground
• 2. river trail entrance c. two or three foot open space for human passage to right of gate
a. there are already 3 boulders there,just need to be moved into effective
positions
b. repast sign reading "no motorized vehicles"
B. Southern Prairie
1. parking lot entrances
a. 120 ft. four strand wire fence
-t-posts 15 ft. apart
-6 ft. away from trees to allow lawn mower to make full circle
+John Mauer, citizen of Ohio, has summer residence
in property closest to southern prairie. He's been mowing
very nice trails around the park that neighbors say they
enjoy. Set up a picnic table under tree.
(above info, obtained from neighbor and
caretaker of John's property while he's gone.)
+2 concerns:
1. path mowed through center of prairie,dividing it
2. trail may not be exactly where it is wanted
b. 8 or 12 ft. swinging gate at right-hand entrance
- hinged on 2 8 ft. 6x6's cemented into ground
2. river entrance
a. four 8 ft. 6x6's place three feet apart to block four wheelers, etc. allow
humans.
