SUBJECT: Regional Park Coalition
At the July 17, 2000, City Council meeting, staff provided the Council with a
monthly update regarding Park and Recreation Commission's actions and
developments. At that meeting, Mr. Nystrom's request for the creation of
regional park coalition for East Sherburne County was discussed.
The Council directed staff to encourage the Park and Recreation Commission to
facilitate a meeting with neighboring park and recreation commissions to

determine the willingness of other communities to form a partnership to complete
a regional park plan for East Sherburne County.
Staff has the following questions for the Commission to consider:
1. Is the Commission willing at this time, to take on this task?
2. If the Commission is willing to embrace this task, what is the level of
priority that this task should be given?
3. Which Commissioners, if any, are interested in participating in the drafting
of a letter to surrounding communities to begin this process?
Please provide appropriate direction to staff regarding this issue.
