SUBJECT: Park Boundary Sign Direction
At a previous Commission meeting, the issue of which direction to face park
boundary signs was raised. Obviously, depending on who you intend your
audience to be would determine which direction the signs would face. As I have
observed the Commission, it appears that it is the desire of the Commission to
inform residential property owners that they are living adjacent to City park land
and to expect that changes will occur and amenities will be constructed.
However, there is much to be said for protecting private property from park users,
• although most park users can be expected to respect private property.
Obviously, installing two signs, one indicating private property or some other
language for users in the park and then the standard park boundary sign on each
sign post may increase costs of signage. The amended subdivision ordinance
requires the developer to install park boundary and trail markers as required by
the City.
Recommendation
Please provide staff direction regarding this issue.
