Action Requested
Approve,by motion, a quote from Great Northern Landscape,Inc., for Library facility grounds
improvements.
Background/Discussion
Over the past several months the Library Board,the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and the Parks and
Recreation Director have studied the grounds at the Library to identify ways to beautify the grounds and
add new irrigation zones.
The Library Board is updating a 5-year plan to be included in the city's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
The Council will review the 5-year plan later this year during the CIP discussions.
Library Board chair will be available at the meeting if the Council has any questions.
On July 22, 2014, the Library Board voted to recommend to the City Council that the following
beautification/maintenance projects be completed in 2014 in the amount of$28,635:
1) Parking lot island - $14,705
2) Front rain garden- $880
3) Back corner of building- $670
4) Book drop off loop - $225
5) Irrigation system- $12,155
Financial Impact
The Library is a Special Revenue Fund and has sufficient funds available to complete the projects in 2014.
In addition, staff has designated future funds for the roof and heating pump replacements with prior
unspent bond proceeds which are the major expenditures in the next 10 years.

be completed this fall, 2014. Motion Passed 3:0 on July 22, 2014.
