Background/Discussion The city coordinated the Independence Day fireworks after the Independence Day Committee stepped aside. The Council approved an expenditure of budgeted city funds for the fireworks but appealed to the public for donations to assist the city in raising additional funds needed to support the event. On July 7, 2014, the City Council adopted resolution 14-32 acknowledging contributions in the amount of$4,140.00 towards the Independence Day fireworks. Since that time, an additional$2,778.73 in donations has been received to help fund the event. Financial Impact The City of Elk River received a total of$6,918.73 in contributions to assist in funding the Independence Day fireworks. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council,by at least four-fifths vote,to acknowledge the support and commend the individuals and organizations who donated. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon,the following voted in favor thereof- and the following against: ,whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
