SUBJECT: Discuss Orono Park Skating Rink
Request
Staff requests that the Commission review possible locations for a skating rink at Orono
Park.

Analysis
• Phil Hals will present information at the meeting regarding the possible establishment of
a skating rink at Orono Park. In the past, a rink on the lack has been discussed,
however, the quality of lake ice is not always best due to the cracking that occurs as the
weather changes.
Two possible locations include the parking lot near the lake, and the open area under
the water tower. Obviously, the closer the rink is to the lake, the more aesthetically
pleasing the skating experience, especially at night.
Phil Hals will provide additional details regarding these ideas at the meeting.
Recommendation
Review the provided information and provide staff with additional direction regarding the
proposed skating rink at Orono Park.
