Attachments • Letter of Request • Analysis Ms. Penbera-Lennes' letter outlines the request more fully, including the rules of conduct they propose to use. Staff believes that these rules are appropriate and would protect the resources at Woodland Trails Park. The use of the cautionary signage would be appropriate for this event. Recommendation Staff recommends that the Park and Recreation Commission endorse the dog-walking event on September 26, 1999 with the following conditions: 1. The rules of conduct outlined in Ms. Penbera-Lennes' letter of August 13, 1999 are implemented. 2. The group shall comply with the Cautionary Signage policy. 13065 Orono Parkway • P.O. Box 490 Elk River,MN 55330 Humane Society Dog Walk Members of Barrington Oaks Animal Hospital and private citizen are forming a new branch to serve the Sherburne county area. To do this we need donations from community • members and private companies. One of the ways we have come up with to raise money for the Humane Society is to have a dog walk. People would be asked to go around to friends and family and ask for donations to walk. Also,I have sent out letters to local businesses to give sponsorship of the dog walk in any way. We would like to hold the dog walk in the Elk River area if possible. As of now I don't know how many people would be attending as we haven't done this before. We would like to walk atleast 3 miles. I have also started on some general rules that might help with your decision, 1. You may walk, run, wheel with or without a dog 2. Clean up material and water will be available along the path 3. All dogs must be current on vaccinations 4. no females in heat 5. dog must be on a leash and under control at all times 6. no dogs that don't get along with people or other dogs 7. If you are under 18 you must have parents permission and signature to walk These are the rules that I have come up with. I will be attending the meeting on September 8th,to address any further concerns. Thank You for your help and support in such a needed cause. Tiffany Penbera-Lennes •
