SUBJECT: Discuss Bailey's Point
Request
Commissioner Dave Anderson requested that the Commission discuss the possible
acquisition of"Bailey's Point" adjacent to the Elk River through some means. Attached
please find maps illustrating the extent of the Bailey holdings. It has the potential to
become a premier recreational facility for the City.
Recommendation
The Commission should discuss the pros and cons of acquiring this property including:
• 1. How to acquire the property.
2. Access issues (strangers entering my neighborhood).
3. What recreational opportunities would the City develop here? Picnicking,
canoe launch, fishing pier, active or passive recreation?
The Commission, if it determines that the City should acquire the property, should make
a recommendation to the City Council to work toward that end.
