05-11-2000 HPC MIN MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER
HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Members Present: Kurt Kragness, Cindy Olson, James Nord, and Bruce Penner
Members Absent: Bud Houlton, Pat Rassmusson, and Bob Nickerson

1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Heritage
Preservation Commission(HPC) was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Consider 5/11/00 HPC Agenda
COMMISSIONER OLSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE MAY 11,2000
AGENDA.
COMMISSIONER NORD SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION
CARRIED 4-0.
II/ 3. Consider Minutes of the April 13, 2000 HPC Meeting
COMMISSIONER KRAGNESS MOVED TO APPROVE THE APRIL 13,
2000 MINUTES.
COMMISSION PENNER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION
CARRIED 4-0.
4. Consider Items on the Planning Commission 5/23/00 Agenda
No information was available on this subject. The HPC decided to routinely
review the Planning Commission agendas starting in June to identify potential
conflicts with development proposals and preserving the city's heritage.
5. Consider HPC Master Plan to Accomplish Written History
Because of a lack of time due to Commissioner Kragness needing to leave, it was
decided that this issue will be postponed until the HPC's June meeting.
6. Discuss Moving May 16th Presentation at Library to May 17th
Kurt Kragness distributed a report, dated, May 11, 2000, as well as a press release
to the HPC on the open house at the library. It was noted that the date of the

open house has been changed from Tuesday May 16th to Wednesday May 17.
HPC members are encouraged to be at the library to setup by 6:30 p.m.
• 7. Discuss Items on June 8th Agenda
It was the consensus of the group that the next agenda include: the master plan for
the HPC, review of items on the June Planning Commission Agenda, and the
application to become a Certified Local Government.
8. Other Business
Kurt Kragness encourage HPC members to attend the visioning meeting of
Operation Elk River, date to be announced, and the 2000 Spring Alliance
Conference titled, "Upstairs, Downstairs: Historic Structures", hosted by the
Morrison County Historical Society on Friday, June 9th
