12-12-2002 HPC MIN MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2002 Members Present: Cliff Lundberg, Cindy Olson, Jim Nord, and Jeff Gongoll Members Absent: Kurt Kragness, Bud Houlton and Pat Dwyer Staff Present: Stephen Rohlf 1. Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the regular meeting of the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:35 p.m. 2. Consider 12/12/02 Agenda COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. COMMISSIONER LUNBERG SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 3. Consider 11/19/02 Minutes 411 COMMISSIONER LUNDBERG MOVED TO APPROVE THE 11/19/02 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. COMMISSIONER OLSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 4. Consider Items on Planning Commission 11/26/02 Agenda The Commission reviewed the items on the 11/26/02 Planning Commission agenda and felt there were no conflicts or issues regarding the preservation of the city's heritage. 5. Discuss Recommendation on Historic Significance of Downtown Area The Commission reviewed their recommendation regarding the historic significance of the Downtown area for consistency with revisions made at their October meeting and authorized the final draft to be presented to the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. 6. Develop Regarding Oral Interviews and Inventorying in 2003 and Discuss Grant Opportunities Stephen Rohlf informed the Commission that the city's budget contained $5,000 for both oral interviews and inventorying. He further discussed his meeting with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), who felt there wasn't enough money in the city's budget to do both of these tasks. The Commission decided to wk. heed SHPO's advice and only apply for grant money to conduct the inventorying and try to accomplish some oral interviews using HPC members as the interviewers. 7. Other Business No other business was presented. 8. Discuss Items to be on January 9th Agenda It was decided that a regular meeting of the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission would not be held due to the scheduled joint meeting with the Housing and Redevelopment Authority on January 27th 9. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting of the Elk River HPC was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. •
