Adopt, by resolution,the execution of the attached agreement authorizing the Elk River Police
Department to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for traffic
safety enforcement projects during the period of October 1,2014, through September 30, 2017.
Background/Discussion
The Elk River Police Department has been a long-time participant and lead administrative and fiscal
agency in grant-funded joint law enforcement traffic safety initiatives in Sherburne County. Other
participating agencies include the Sherburne County Sheriffs Office and Big Lake and Becker police
departments.
The Sherburne County Collision Reduction and Safer Highways program (C.R.A.S.H.) has been awarded
a $124,000 grant through the Office of Traffic Safety to fund continuing traffic safety efforts in
Sherburne County for the period from October 1,2014,through September 30, 2017. The attached
resolution authorizes the Elk River Police Department to serve as the administrative and fiscal agent for
this period.
Financial Impact
The Police Department will be eligible to receive between 33-40 percent of the $124,000 grant award to
reimburse officer overtime and some equipment expenses related to this program.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT
Be it resolved that the Elk River Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for traffic safety enforcement projects,
during the period of October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2017 (or three year period).
Chief Bradley R. Rolfe is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments
as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Elk River Police Department
and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant.
