DISCUSSION:
• Delivered 6 new residential water meters.
• Delivered 2 new 1 '''/"commercial water meters.
• Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from 13 water services.
• Turned on 1 water service and 1 electric service.
• Turned off 10 water services and 8 electric services.
• Went on 13 Service calls.
• Completed 12 fire hydrant repairs.
• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for
Coliform Bacteria.
• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards.
• Mike Langer and Angela Hauge provided an operational tour to our Customer Service
Representatives. The CSRs said that it was very interesting to learn about some of the
things the water department is involved with.
• The water department had 2 interns last month. Andrew Clark interned with us October
20-24. Andrew is a student at St. Cloud Technical College in the Water Environmental
Technologies (WET)Program. Jerry Tveit was our other intern who was with us October
27-31. Jerry is also a student with St. Cloud Technical College in the WET Program and
he attends the program at the Eden Prairie Water Treatment Facility.
• The effluent pipe at Well#3 was replaced by Horwitz NS/I. The pipe they replaced was
an old original that was severely corroded by injected fluoride. The new pipe is a huge
improvement and should last for many years. I've attached a picture of the new pipe.
• The Twin Lakes Watermain Extension(North)has been slower than we would have
liked. The contractor had until October 31st to finish the project, after which they would
start to incur liquidated damages of$500.00 per day. As they were not going to be able
to finish on time, we gave them a week extension as long as they covered any incidentals
that came up throughout the project. The new deadline was November 7th. As the
contractor also failed to get the project completed by the new deadline, they started

incurring liquidated damages on November 8`h. I will give an update at the commission
meeting.
• The contractor working on Natures Edge Business Park Phase 2 has completed installing
the watermain but has not pressure tested the main or had it tested for bacteria yet.
• Mike Langer and Pete Neilsen cleaned out and reformed the drainage swale at Well#6.
• Angela Hauge has been working with Christy Schallock and Jennie Nelson, to identify
and repair all of the stopped and non-reading water meters. This involves Christy going
through the entire high/low report, and the zero use report,to identify the water meters
that need attention. Angela then contacts the homeowners so she can gain access to the
water meter for repairs.
• I went out and hand delivered private hydrant letters and policies to all of the businesses
that have not yet signed up for the private hydrant maintenance program. Since delivering
the letters, we've had 10 more businesses sign up for the program; adding 22 private
hydrants that will receive annual preventative maintenance. The 2015 program will
service 158 private hydrants for 66 separate businesses.
• Attended the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association(MMUA) Firstline Supervision
Program October 8-10 at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, MN. The education report
is attached.
