Vision Committee Update
DISCUSSION:
On November 19, the newly formed Vision Committee met to begin planning for celebrating
ERMU's 100th anniversary in 2015. Discussions included:
• Branding, tag lines, and logos associated with the anniversary;
• Advertising,marketing, social media,bill messages, and other communication options;
• The book currently in preparation on the 100 year history of ERMU;
• Having one big event to celebrate in lieu of many little events;
• Pictures and stories spanning the history to use for displays;
• A local event to be hosted at the historic power plant at the Elk River Dam;
• Hockey pucks for the APPA National Convention and the local "Event";
• Coffee and cookies at the front counter.
The result of the discussion gave staff some ideas on preparing a proposed budget for the 100th
anniversary. The proposed 2015 budget includes $25,000 for items associated with the planning
and implementation of the 100th anniversary celebration. At this time, it is unlikely that$25,000
would be used. Some significant items already identified are:
$1,200 60 History Elk River Municipal Utilities books
$5,000 2,000 hockey pucks with anniversary logo
$10,000 The"Event"which would include: food, entertainment, advertising,kid activities
ACTION REQUESTED:
Staff requests the Commission approved the $25,000 included in the proposed 2015 budget for the
planning and implementation of the 100th anniversary celebration with the purchases within this
$25,000 being reviewed through the Vision Committee,being approved by the General Manager,
and being reported to the Commission through monthly Committee updates.
