Appoint,by motion, a cable TV monitor to run with the term of the Councilmember.
Background/Discussion
The Sherburne Wright Cable Commission will pay for cable service for up to 2 city representatives to
monitor channels and report problems to Charter Communications. Councilmember Burandt is currently
serving as a monitor. Councilmember Motin was the other monitor.
As a Cable Monitor you are responsible for:
■ Reviewing all cable channels for appropriate video and audio quality
❑ Video should be clear and match quality of other cable channels
❑ Audio should be clear with no external noise
■ Specific monitoring of the government access channel—cable channel 180
❑ Video clarity
❑ Audio clarity
❑ Issues with the beginning or end of programs
❑ Any noticeable problems
■ Act as a resource to determine whether cable issue is wide spread or confined to a specific area
Problems should be immediately reported to the Government Access Cable Coordinator. Outages are
reported immediately to Charter Communications. Provide specific information such as:
• Channel(s) involved
• Time the problem(s) occurred
• Detailed description of occurrence
• How long problem lasted
• Any other pertinent information
Financial Impact
There is no financial impact to the city. Internet,phone service, and/or premium channel services are
not included and will be billed monthly to the cable monitor by Charter Communications.
