ACKGROUNDISCUSSION
The city requires any company who collects commercial or residential waste in the City of Elk River
(including roll-off services) to obtain a license. The license application also requires proof of insurance.

Solid Waste Hauler Licenses expire annually on the 31 of December. Fees associated with license
renewal are $60.00 for the company’s first truck, and $15.00 for each additional truck. Eighteen haulers
have applied for licenses in 2015 for a total of 66 trucks and license revenues of $1,800. In 2014, licenses
were given to 17 haulers with a total of 64 trucks and license revenue of $1,710.
