SUBJECT: Addition of Firefighters
The Elk River Fire Department is requesting Council approval to advertise
for the addition of three firefighters due to the resignation of three past
firefighter members. As a result of firefighters changing jobs, resigning for
personal reasons, and/or moving to another community, we are now three
firefighters short of our full roster of 35 paid on-call firefighters.
With the approval of the City Council to add three new firefighters to the
department, we will start the process of advertising for the position of paid
on-call firefighter for the department.
I anticipate the process of hiring new firefighters to take approximately three
months after the screening of applications, interviewing potential candidates,
returning to the Council with the names of potential candidates, firefighter
physicals, and stress tests. I will be in attendance at the December 14, 1998,
council meeting to answer any questions in reference to the addition of
firefighter candidates for the Elk River Fire Department. If you have any
