Part Time Fire Inspector Wage
As you are aware from my previous memo, the issue of the part time fire
inspector's pay was presented to the City Council for review and approval.
The issue of accumulated inspector hours was to begin as of January 1, 1999.
After some significant deliberation on my part, and discussion with City
Administrator Pat Klaers and Assistant City Administrator Lori Johnson on
this issue, and investigation into the city's past practice referencing retro-
activity, I feel it would be appropriate to include the hours of inspection time
already accumulated by the part time fire inspectors. The part time fire
inspectors have done an excellent job in moving the fire inspection program
forward.
Therefore, I am recommending approval of the wage structure as proposed in
the December 7, 1998, memo, with retro-activity to include the hours
accumulated to this date for the part time fire inspectors (see below). I would
like to thank the Mayor and City Council for addressing this issue of part
time fire inspectors per hour wage. I will be in attendance at the Monday,
December 14, 1998, council meeting to answer any questions in reference to
this issue.
