7a. Skateboard Park
With spring approaching, the Commission needs to forward some
recommendations regarding the skateboard park. The following issues
should be discussed:
1. Location
2. Supervisor staffing
3. City involvement in construction of grounds and/or equipment
4. Should the city provide a temporary location?
Staff needs some direction on these issues so please come prepared to
discuss these and other issues that may be related to skateboarding.
8. Discussion - Outdoor Hockey Rinks
Staff has received requests for more outdoor hockey rinks that could be
scheduled for youth hockey practice times. Commissioners are asked
to discuss the following:
1. Should the city be providing rinks and how many?
2. Who should be responsible for scheduling at these rinks?
3. Who should maintain these rinks?
4. Where should the rinks be located?
5. Can one rink be paved so as to provide summer uses such as
roller hockey or skateboarding?
Give these issues and any others you might have some thought for the
discussion at Wednesday's meeting.

• 9. Discussion - Oak Knoll Soccer Field #7
The School District is proposing to close soccer field#7 at Oak Knoll
park and use the site for an Alternative Learning Center building.
The School Board and City Council will be meeting on Monday,
February 10, so we will hopefully have more information available for
Wednesday's meeting.

SUBJECT: Preliminary Plat for Oakwood Hills
(Good Value Homes/J. Peterson),
Case No. P 97-1
Attached for your review is the preliminary plat for Oakwood Hills. The plat
is located to the west of M-Vale, southeast of Hobbit Hills and east of
Weatherwood. It involves subdividing a 40 acre parcel into 14 residential
lots. Access to the plat will be provided by the extension of Pascal Street to
the north of the plat. The applicant is proposing a loop road through the site
beginning at Pascal street on the northwest corner of the plat and extending
through the plat to the southwest corner.
The site is mostly wooded and hilly with numerous wetlands, knobs and
• depressions located throughout the site. There are no trails or parks planned
for this site according to the Comprehensive Park Plan. Staff is suggesting a
park dedication fee be required for this plat.
This plat is on the agenda for the February 25, 1997 Planning Commission
meeting. Your comments will be appreciated.
