4.0. SR 05-03-2004MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: Mayor and City Council Pat Klaers, City ~strat~r May 3, 2004 SUBJECT: 2003 Annual Reports Item 4. The city annual report for all the city departments is scheduled for Monday, May 3, 2004. All of the city department heads or their representatives will be in attendance to make a presentation on recent departmental accomplishments and upcoming goals and activities. About ten days ago the annual report document and video were distributed to the City Council. The video is about 1/2 hour in length and highlights significant 2003 city projects. It also highlights departmental activities that are ongoing in nature and which will be happening again in 2004 and future years, i.e. Safety Camp, National Night Out, recreation programs such as Fright Night, etc. This video will not be sho~vn at the City Council meeting. When a replay of this City Council meeting is put on cable TV the annual report video will be dubbed in at the beginning of the meeting. I know that the City Council has had an opportunity to revie~v the report and the video but we need to remember that the viewing audience generally has not had an opportunity to read the annual report. (It should be noted during the Council meeting that the annual report is available on the city website and anybody can contact City Hall for a copy of any and all the departmental reports.) Accordingly, we will want to briefly talk about a few of the highlights within each department from the previous year; but the majority of our time will be dedicated to discussing upcoming projects, activities, and goals along ~vith the Council and staff question/answer session. The presentation format is as follows: INTRODUCTION City Adrnimstrator Pat I~daers GENERAL GOVERNMENT Ei,a,ce-Finance Director Lori Johnson /cldmi, istratio,-City Clerk Joan Schmidt P/a,,i,g-Director of Planning Michele McPherson S: ~Council\Pat~2004~AnnualRcport2003.doc Economic Development- Director of Economic Development Cathy Mehelich MunicipalL~'quor-Liquor Store Manager Dave Potvin Legal-City Prosecuting Attorney Chris Johnson Council Q & A PUBLIC WORKS Streets/Parks-Street/Park Superintendent Phil Hals Municipal Utilities-General Manager Bryan Adams LVastewater Treatment S~ystem-Chief Operator Gary Leirmoe Engineering-Consulting City Engineer Terry Maurer Council Q & A CULTURE AND RECREATION Cig Recreation-Manager Michele Bergh L~'bra~y-Librarian Mick Stoffers Senior Programs-Senior Center Director Sue Kostanshek Ice ~trena-Ice Arena Manager Rich Czech Council Q & A PUBLIC SAFETY Building and Environmental-Building/Environmental Admimstrator Steve Rohlf t~ire and Ambulance Service-Assistant Chief Mike Trunnell ?olice-PoF~ce Chief Jeff Beahen Council Q&A CONCLUSION City Administrator Pat Klaers CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS The annual report presentation is the only agenda item for this City Council meeting.
