River TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Phil Hals, Street/Park Supt.
DATE: May 14, 1997
SUBJECT: Agenda Memo
7. Moving Playground Equipment to Handke School
The city donated $3,000 towards the purchase of this playground
equipment, but staff feels that it is in the city's best interest to allow
ECFE or Handke PTO to move it to another school district site as the
district sees fit. Staff does not feel it is appropriate to commit labor or
equipment to the project at this time.
8. Discussion -Park Development East of Highway169
Tom Cruz approached the City Council on 4/28/97 to request park
development east of Highway 169. The City Council directed me to
make it a discussion item for the May Park and Recreation meeting.
Please give some thought to park opportunities in this area and come
prepared to discuss all possibilities.
9. Minnesota Civil War Encampment
During the Heritage Festival on August 8, 9, 10, 1997, the Second
Minnesota Civil War Reenactment Group has requested permission to
do an encampment on the EDA site downtown. This encampment
would be 6 to 8 tents, about 20 to 30 soldiers, and one fire circle. I will
have more information available at the Commission meeting.
