This item is an update, no action is required.
Background/Discussion
Since receiving direction from the Council in September of 2014 to proceed with the implementation of a
rail road crossing quiet zone, staff has continued the preparations to have the necessary safety upgrades
installed. There have been a few changes to the proposed project since last discussed in September. Staff
will give an update on the current status of the project and take any direction the Council might have.
Financial Impact
The estimate for implementation of a quiet zone as reviewed last September was $1,350,000. Some
positive changes realized since that time have the potential to reduce this amount considerably.
