5. Discussion on Youth Field Needs
Jeff Asfahl and members of the youth athletic organizations will be present to
discuss field needs. One item to consider is what other municipalities are doing to
supply needed space.
City staff has prepared a proposal to build youth sized fields on 121/2 acres of
WWTP land on the corner of 165th Avenue and Jarvis Street. The grading,
fencing, Class 5 parking lot and seeding will amount to approximately $50,000.
The work would be all contracted this summer and seeded in August with a
• proposed opening of spring, 1996. On the attached sheet you will note that by
postponing the well, irrigation, and asphalt, this project is within financial reach.
Changing the number of fields or the size of the parking lot will directly affect the
costs.
6. Consider Administrative Subdivision Request by Gerald Sneft

7. Consider Trail Development versus Park Dedication Fee
Please see the attached memo from City Planner Steve Ach.
8. Trail Tenderizer Ski Trail Groomer-Dave Anderson

10. Consider 1995 Capital Expenditures for Park Improvements
At the April 12, 1995, Park and Recreation Commission meeting, Phil Hals
submitted a list of park improvements for 1995 which was accepted by the
Commission 5-0.
As we are entering the summer season, it is more apparent that in order to
complete the park projects that are scheduled, we need to contract some trail
paving, which has a direct effect on the costs. As such, below is a modified park
improvement list.
Orono Park
Install four street lights $ 3,200
Install ADA recommended pathways 5,000
Install ADA improvements to boat dock,
picnic tables, and beach access path 3,000
Oak Knoll Park
Install additional backstop fencing $ 5,500
Install accessible trails 5,000
Trail Installations

11. Update on Grant Application for Property Purchase Using the DNR Natural
and Scenic Area Grant Program
On Wednesday, May 31, Park and Recreation Chair Dave Anderson and Phil Hals
joined four members of the Minnesota Grant office for a firsthand look at the
property that was submitted for purchase under the MnDNR Natural and Scenic
Grant Program. The officials from the grant office did not offer any information
regarding the grant status, but if this grant becomes a reality, the city will need to
fund 50 percent or$45,000.
11. Consider Jackson Square Usage for Lioness Club Fundraiser
Information will be distributed and a verbal update give by Commissioner Tuttle
at Wednesday's meeting.
