5. Discuss Skateboarding Issues
Jeff Asfahl has invited several of the active skateboarders to attend
the meeting to discuss the pros and cons of the skateboard trial areas.
Plans will need to be drafted this winter for a future skateboarder's
haven since their present location will be used for soccer and softball
parking. Jeff and I hope to have some information from the MRPA
Conference in Duluth to share with you on skateboard programs.

6. Discuss MSF Proposal -Perry Coonce
I have invited Perry Coonce of the Minnesota Sports Federation to
attend the November meeting and discuss their building proposal.
Come prepared with any questions or comments you may have
regarding the property usage, residents access to the facility, fees for
usage, net value for the city, and any other issues you may have.
8. Discuss Future of Kuss Field
With the development of the Cass fields, the Oak Knoll fields, the MSF
Proposal, and the Orono Park property needs, this is an excellent time
to discuss the long range future of Kuss fields.
9. Discuss Cost of Lights for Oak Knoll Park Baseball Fields
Craig Gallop of Musco Lighting is sending me a quotation on a "turn
key" lighting package for the Oak Knoll baseball field. I will have the
information available as a handout for Wednesday's meeting.

• 13. Staff Updates
a. Steve Ach has furnished a copy of the grading plan of the
Country Crossing III plat for Park and Recreation Commission
review.
b. I will have handouts available at the meeting regarding
equipment and prices.
c. In 1995, we graded a trail between the Senior High School and
190th Circle in Schoolview Addition. This trail was not paved
because of the ice arena construction. Now that the ice arena
parking lot is completed, we will be able to pave that section in
the spring. Questions for the Commission are as follows:
• Should a trail be continued from 190th Circle to the east
following the sewer line easement to Jackson Road?
• Would the Commission like to invite the adjoining
property owners to a future meeting prior to brush
clearing or construction?
I feel that working behind existing homes will require a fair
amount of public relations effort beforehand and the Park and
Recreation Commission is well informed to provide citizens with
an open discussion.
d. MSA, the city's consulting engineer firm, is collecting
information regarding a tunnel under County Road 1 for the
railroad trail. I will have information to hand out at the 11/13
meeting.
e. MSA is doing a study regarding a pedestrian crossing over
Highway 169 per City Council direction. I will bring whatever
information may be available by 11/13 to the meeting to share
with the Park and Recreation Commission.
