Subject: Change Order for the replacement of the Barn's floor
Date: May 7, 2004
Thursday May 6th, I had a construction meeting with Scott Ward from Stevens
Engineering and Mark Rodorigo from Commercial Refrigeration. Our main
discussion was about the radius of the south end of the rink. Two major problems
were found in this area when the boards were removed.
I will be attending the City Council meeting to discuss the problems and the
solution to them.

RE: Ice Rink Floor and Dasher Board Replacement Projects -RFl#1
Our File No, 6008
Dear Rich:
Enclosed is the ,proposal from the contractor for replacing the perimeter concrete edge on the south
end of the rink. As you know, after the existing dasher boards were removed it was discovered that
the south radii on the existing perimeter concrete was poorly shaped for proper installation of a new
dasher board system. It would be difficult and probably impossible in some locations to properly
anchor the dasher boards in this area without using external posts. Some anchors would have to be
placed in the rink floor concrete as well.
If the conditions were left as-is the new dasher boards would be partially on and parna,lIy off the rink
slab depending on the location, It would also be difficult, in some areas, to obtain the proper
overhang distance of the dasher boards onto the rink slab to assure solid ice along the edges. The
other main factor to consider is that the two radii on the south end would be slightly different in order
to match the existing conditions; there may be an additional cost to fabricate the different radii.
If you have any questions regarding this information or would like to disouss it further please call me
at 651,436.2075,
Yours very truly,
