Adopt, by motion, a resolution approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the advertisement
for bids in the matter of the 2015 Street Improvement project
Background /Discussion
Final plans, consistent with the recommendation of the Feasibility Report, have been prepared for the
2015 Street Improvement Project. The plans are currently being reviewed by the MnDOT office for
compliance with all applicable state aid rules. The full set of plans is available for viewing at City Hall.
The schedule for the project is as follows:
• Feasibility Report approved by City Council November, 17, 2014
• Approve Plans /Authorize Bids March 16, 2015
• Open Bids April 14, 2015
• Award Contract April 20, 2015
• Construction May — October 2015
Financial Impact
The estimated construction cost of $4,746,000 is still consistent with the estimates provided in the
preliminary engineering report. A final project cost breakdown will be refined upon opening of bids and
before award of the construction contract. No expenditures above previously approved project
administration fees are associated with the adoption of the attached resolution.

RESOLUTION 15-
A Resolution for the City of Elk River
A Resolution Approving the Plans and Specifications
and Ordering the Advertisement for Bids in the Matter of the 2015 Street
Improvement Project
Whereas, Bolton & Menk, Inc., at the direction of the city engineer, has prepared plans and
specifications for the 2015 Street Improvement, which plans and specifications have
been reviewed by the city.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota:
Such plans and specifications, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by
this reference, are hereby approved.
2. The city clerk shall prepare and obtain the publication of an advertisement for bids for the
making of the improvement pursuant to the attached plans and specifications. The
advertisement shall be published for 10 days, shall specify the work to be done, and shall
state that the bids will be received by the city clerk until 10:00 a.m. on April 14, 2015, at
which time the bids will be publicly opened in the Council Chambers of the City Hall by the
city clerk and the city engineer and will then be tabulated for consideration by the City
Council at a meeting thereof at 6:30 p.m. on April 20, 2015, in the City Council Chambers at
City Hall. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the city clerk and
accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the
City of Elk River in the amount of 5% of the amount of such bid.
