SUBJECT: Park and Recreation Needs for the
Brady Property
Early last week, Ron Bastyr (developer) and Lynn Caswell (engineer) met
with Terry Maurer and myself to begin discussing the development of
approximately 150 acres south of Ridgewood, west of Proctor, north of 193rd,
and east of the City trail. This particular area has quite a few natural
features including wetlands, topography, and a large number of trees in the
northern half. Mr. Bastyr has given some thought on how this property could
be developed, however, before proceeding much further, it is important the
Park and Recreation Commission begin examining the park needs within this
area and how those needs will directly affect this development.
• Mr. Bastyr and Mr. Caswell will be at the meeting Wednesday night to
participate in some general discussion on what the Park and Recreation
Commission would like to see in this particular area and how those elements
can be incorporated into the proposed development.
Some of the items the Park and Recreation Commission may want to begin
thinking about is the need for a east/west trail to connect with the old
railroad bed which runs north and south. In addition, whether land is
needed for a neighborhood park, or if the payment of cash would meet the
Park and Recreation Commission requirements for this area.
