Extension of Preliminary Plat P98-7, Elk
River Business Park
Request
Richard Martens, Brookstone, Inc. requests that the timeline for final plat submission be
extended to June 30, 2000.

Analysis
Section 1008.08.C requires submission of the final plat "within one (1) year, unless a
written request for extension has been submitted and for good cause granted by the
Council". Failure to do so causes the preliminary plat to become null and void.
The preliminary plat of the Elk River Business Park was approved on December 21,
1998. Since then, the City has started and substantially completed the East Elk River
improvements (Tyler Street, sewer and water main installation). Additional
improvements need to be completed in 2000 before access to the Business Park can
be provided. The request to extend submission of the final plat to June 30, 2000 is
appropriate due to the work remaining in the area.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council extend final plat submission for request P 98-7
until June 30, 2000.

Thanks for your telephone call regarding the preliminary plat extension for our Elk River
Business Park. We are currently moving forward with the more detailed planning for our
first project within this Business Park and are planning to submit some early drawings to
you over the next 6-8 weeks.
You indicated to me that our preliminary plat approval was received for this project on
December 21, 1998, and that we essentially had one year to apply for the final plat. For this
reason, we are requeSting tha~ y°u extend the deadline for the final plat to June 30, 2000.
We are confident that we Will have this application to you by April 2000.
Thanks for your assistance on this matter and please call should you require additional
information.
