I RESOLUTION ORDERING A MUNICIPAL
ELECTION PRIMARY NO. 78- 5
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is a statutory city of the fourth class;
and,
WHEREAS, M.S.A. 205.11 (1) provides that a statutory city of the fourth
class may by resolution elect to choose nominees for municipal
offices by a primary election; and,
WHEREAS, the Elk River City Council finds that a primary election for
the purpose of selecting nominees for municipal office, provides
for a more democratic and representative election process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River that primary elections for the purpose of selecting
nominees for municipal office be conducted in the City of
Elk River in accordance with the appropriate state statutes
and the rules and regulations of the secretary of state governing
municipal primary elections.
Adopted by the Elk River City Council the 7th day of August , 1978.
