RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CENTRAL MINNESOTA REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
COMMISSIONS OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND
RECOMMENDING THE SUPPORT OF THE SHERBURNE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, The Central Minnesota Economic Development District was created to
meet the challenges and problems directly resulting from rapid popu,
lation growth, low income, unemployment and other socio-economic pro-
blems in this part of the State; and,
WHEREAS, The Central Minnesota Regional Development Commission was created
to deal with these challenges and problems; and,
WHEREAS, To meet the above challenges and problems the Central Minnesota
Regional Development Commission has prepared an overall economic
development program which is designed to create employment
opportunities, foster more stable and deversified local economies,
to improve local economic conditions and to provide a mechanism
for guiding, coordinating and informing the efforts of local
individuals, organizations and decision makers, who are concerned
with economic development of the district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BB IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River
that the City Council finds the economic development program of
the Central Minnesota Regional Development Commission to be a
• reasonable program to guide the economic growth and development
of the region, and as such, the Council fully supports the overall
economic development program, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Elk River City Council does hereby recommend
that the Sherburne County Board of Commissioners also approve of
the overall economic development program, as prepared by the
Central Minnesota Regional Development Commission.
