RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THIS CITY OF ELK RTVER TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA FOR A GRANT TO AID IN THE
ENGINEERING COSTS RELATED TO THE REPAIR OF THE LAKE ORONO DAM
WHEREAS, The Minne: ota Department of Natural Re:ource:; and the United States
Army Corp of Engineer'' hae found that the Lake Orono Dam is an
un:r"table : tructure and 'oen, pop e a threat to the health and safety
of the citizens of Elk River, and;
WHEREAS, The City of Elk River it riesi.rou' of alleviating the problems
discovered in and around the Lak Orono Dam, and;
WHEREAS, It will be necer5ary for the City of Elk River to engage a
profe:;rional engineering firm to perform a preliminary engineering
:study on the dam before repair or reconstruction can take place, and;
WHEREAS, To finance 20T7,, of the cost of a preliminary engineering study on
the Lake Orono Dam would reult in a financial burden for the City
of Elk River.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Elk River City Council that the City
Administrator be empowered to enter into an agreement with the
State of Minnenota to provide 5(--Y funding up to a maximum of
$13,000 for a preliminary engineering rtu' y on the Lake Orono Dam.
Adopted by the Elk River City Council the 19th day of March, 1979.
