RESOLUTION NO. 79-3 l
RESOLUTION REQUESTING PARTICIPATION BY
WRIGHT COUNTY IN APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL HIGHWAY
BRIDGE REPLACEMENT AND REHABILITATION FUNDS

WHEREAS, The old highway 101 bridge across the Mississippi River has
deteriorated to such a point that its usefulness is limited
and safety hazards are posed by the structure, and;
WHEREAS, The Elk River City Council has determined that the old
highway 101 bridge across the Mississippi River should be
replaced, and;
WHEREAS, Federal Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Funds
will be available in calender year 1979, and;
WHEREAS, A combination of federal and state funding will pay for
100% of the replacement cost of the old highway 101 bridge
across the Mississippi River, with the exception of demolition,
approach and engineering costs, and;
WHEREAS, Bridge is jointly owned by the City of Elk River and Wright
County and, as such, participation of both governmental
entities is required to be eligible for federal funding.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Elk River City Council that the
Wright County Board is hereby requested to participate in an
application for Federal Highway Bridge Replacement and
• Rehabilitation Funds for the replacement of the old highway
101 bridge across the Mississippi River.
