RESOLUTION 79-21
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FULL APPLICATION FOR
U.S. HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR THE
REPAIR OF LAKE ORONO DAM AND AUTHORIZING
SUBMISSION OF THE SAME
WHEREAS, The Lake Orono Dam has been found by the Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources and the United States Array Corps of
Engineers to pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare
of Elk River residents; and,
WHEREAS, The Elk River City Council has deemed it in the best interest
of the City of Elk River to repair the Lake Orono Dam rather
than to remove the structure; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Elk River lacks sufficient local resources to under-
take repair of the Lake Orono Dam without state or federal assistance;
and,
WHEREAS, The City of Elk River has been invited for full application for
HUD Imminent Threat Grant funds in the amount of $225,000 for
the repair of the Lake Orono Dam; and,
WHEREAS, The City Council has reviewed the full application for the HUD
Imminent Threat Grant funds, including, but not limited to, the
housing assistance plan, the citizen participation plan, the
community and housing needs assessment and the cost summary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River
that the full application for HUD Imminent Threat Grant funds be
approved and that the Mayor and City Administrator be designated
to act on behalf of the City of Elk River in submitting the full
application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
and for all future dealings with the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development with regards to the Imminent Threat Grant
for the repair of the Lake Orono Dam.
Adopted this 9th day of July, 1979, by the Elk River City Council.
