Approve, by motion, the contract award of the 2015 Seal Coat Project to Caldwell Asphalt Company, Inc.
in the amount of $228,891.76.
Background /Discussion
As authorized at the March 16, 2015, meeting, staff advertised the 2015 Seal Coat Improvements project.
Construction bids were received on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. The 3 bids received are summarized
below:
Caldwell Asphalt Co. Inc. $228,891.76
Pearson Bros., Inc. $231,724.64
Allied Blacktop Company $247,270.96
Staff recommends awarding the project to Caldwell Asphalt Company, Inc. who was the lowest
responsible bidder
Financial Impact
The budget for 2015 preventative maintenance is $365,199. Deducting the $228,891.76 for the seal
coating contract and $60,000 in purchased rock from the budget leaves a balance of approximately
$76,000. This amount will be reprioritized into additional milling and patching throughout the system.
