Authorize, by motion, staff to initiate the rezoning of a portion of the county property to facilitate a data
center.
Background/Discussion
City and county staff have been working together to position county property adjacent to the Sherburne
County Government Center for a data center. As part of that discussion, a portion of county property
must be rezoned from Residential (R-1c) to Business Park (BP).
The zoning district boundary is irregular in this area,
and adjusting the line to correspond to streets and
property lines is desired. The adjacent map shows BP
in purple and R-1c in green. At the conclusion of the
process, the red area will be zoned Business Park, and
the yellow area would be rezoned to R-1c. Access for a
data center would come from a new road, as an
extension of Rawlings Street.
A rezoning, if approved would not impact the
operations of the county facility in anyway.
With authorization, staff will prepare the necessary
public hearings.
