Background/Discussion
The State Senate has proposed appropriating$5 million from the General Fund to the Minnesota
Amateur Sports Commission for Mighty Ducks Grants to local units of government for arena
modification,rehabilitation, or renovation for ice facility improvements for indoor air quality and
the elimination of R22 refrigerant. As of now,modifications to the bill include caps on funding for air
quality projects at$200,000 and$50,000 for R22 projects. The House and the Governor have yet
propose such funds in their proposed budgets.
Last season,USA Hockey considering a"Look Up Line,"which is a solid orange line from the boards
extending in 40" to the middle of the rink. The Look Up Line was tabled for the 2014—15 season,
however it may be revisited this summer when USA Hockey meets.

This year marks the Springs Craft Fair's 25th anniversary. Once again Laura, the Arena Office Assistant,
has done a great job filling all the spaces with high-quality crafts.
On April 25 and 26 we will host our fourth Gun and Knife Show. It's typically is a great day for our
concession stand.
On May 15 and 16 the Elk River Learn to Skate will host our annual skate show. It features skaters from
the Learn to Skate Program as well as skaters that have been with our program and are now skating with
the club. This year's theme is "Every Day Heroes."
