SUBJECT: RECREATION BOARD MEETING
The next Recreation Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,
January 3, 1989, at 7: 00 p.m. at the Elk River City Hall
Conference Room. The main topic for this meeting will be an open
discussion with Anoka School District Community Education
Director, Dennis Carlson . Dennis is scheduled at 8: 00 p.m. for
this discussion. It is anticipated that Dennis will provide some
insight as to how the City and School District can continue to
improve its existing good working relationship.
Prior to Dennis 's discussion and presentation, City Economic
Development Coordinator, Dick Fursman, will be in attendance to
review the riverwalk plan that has been discussed recently by the
City Council. Additionally, on Wednesday, January 4 , 1989, the
Main Street property owners and the City Council will be
reviewing the proposal in order to address certain issues such as
• parking, access to the riverwalk area, lights, etc. prior to a
grant application being submitted for funding of this park
improvement. All Recreation Board Members are invited to this
1/4/89 meeting held at City Hall at 7: 00 p.m.
Following this presentation and discussion with Dick Fursman,
Charlie Blesener and Phil Hals will update the Recreation Board
on recent winter activities. Topics that could be discussed by
these staff members include the sliding hill; cross country
skiing trails; ice skating rinks; etc. I will also provide an
update on City Council action regarding the park dedication fees
and continued efforts to purchase the railroad trail.
Under the other business agenda item, the Recreation Board may
want to review upcoming activities and agenda topics for future
meetings.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the 1/3/89 Recreation Board
Meeting, and please come prepared to ask questions for the open
discussion with Dennis Carlson.
