SUBJECT: AGENDA MEMO
Please note that the upcoming November 1, 1988, Recreation Board
Meeting is scheduled to begin. at 6: 00 p.m. Almost the entire
meeting will be dedicated to a discussion with the City of
Brooklyn Park Park and Recreation Director, Dennis Palm, and his
Assistant Director, Linda St. John, on the "success story" of the
Brooklyn Park Park and Recreation development. It is anticipated
that Dennis will concentrate much of his discussion on the
successful volunteer network that has been organized in Brooklyn
Park . As previously mentioned, Dennis has experience in both the
Community Education and City aspects of providing park and
recreational opportunities. He has seen the community of
Brooklyn Park grow from 10 ,000 population, to 50 ,000 population
and can very easily relate to the existing situation in Elk River
and what goals we hope to achieve.
The City Council has been invited to this Recreation Board
• meeting, and I look forward to an open and lively discussion on
all types of park and recreation issues. Please come prepared to
ask questions and various issues that you find particularly
interesting.
