SUBJECT: ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT
Matt Ledvina, who had done the city's environmental review at the landfill for
approximately 10 years, is leaving B.A. Liesch Associates to work for Environmental
Resource Group (ERG). At the February 22, 2000 Elk River City Council meeting, staff
recommended, and the council concurred, that the city follow Mr. Ledvina to ERG for its
review of issues at the landifill.
In addition, the Council requested that staff compare the fees of the two consulting firms
to see if the city should consider using ERG for other environmental issues. Attached are
the fee schedules for the two companies. Although they are comparable, ERG is slightly
higher than B.A. Liesch. Besides price, staff recommends the city remains with
Liesch and the consultants that have been doing the city's review for issues at the
RDF Plant, GRE Power Plant, etc., because of experience and consistency.
