At a past meeting, staff talked to the Council about remodeling the Building and Zoning
Department's workspace to create room for another inspector. The original plan for
remodeling involved moving walls, however, it can't be accomplished due to a standpipe
that is in the way.
The Department has come up with an alternative plan to create an additional workstation
that involves rearranging furniture. The plan is to put the Building and Zoning Secretary
and Assistant Secretary both by the front counter and use the other space they are
currently occupying as an inspector's workstation and new location for the Department's
copy machine and printer. A drawing reflecting this is attached.
Building and Zoning budgeted $5,000 in 2000 for remodeling. The cost (including
installation) for the new furniture that is needed is estimated at $4,932.84. A copy of the
estimate is attached. Unless the Council has an issue with the proposed remodeling plan,
staff will go forge ahead.
