RESOLUTION 81-44
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TEMPORARY
LOCATION OF TESCOM CORPORATION IN
MILTON SALK JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND
ENCOURAGING TESCOM CORPORATION'S
PERMANENT LOCATION WITHIN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Elk River wishes to support and encourage
the location of new businesses and industry within the City of Elk River,
in order to provide a more stable tax base and more employment opportuni-
ties within the City; and,
WHEREAS, Tescom Corporation proposes to locate a permanent facility within the
City of Elk River, which will represent a major manufacturing concern
and a major source of employment within the City; and,
WHEREAS, until August 13th, 1982, Tescom Corporation proposes to lease approxi-
mately 10,000 square feet of the Milton Salk Junior High School to temp-
orarily house their manufacturing operation; and,
WHEREAS, the Tescom use of the Milton Salk Junior High School facility will be
consistent with the design and intended usage of the areas and is simi-
lar to that use which the School proposes to make of the areas; and,
WHEREAS, the Tescom Corporation use of the Milton Salk Junior High School will in
no way adversely impact the residential area in which the School is
located; and,
WHEREAS, the Tescom1Corporation use of the Miltonp Salk Junior High School will
in no way cause modifications or change$ to the existing building; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose for which the land and premises and the building thereon is
designed and intended is not in anyway altered or changed by the temporary
use of Tescom Corporation; and,
WHEREAS, the Independent School District #728 Board has agreed to lease the Milton
Salk Junior! High School on a temporary basis to Tescom Corporation and
supports such actions and encourages the City of Elk River to encourage
Tescom Corporation to permanently locate within the City; and,
WHEREAS, the temporary location of the Tescom Corporation in the Milton Salk Junior
High School will facilitate the corporation's ultimate permanent location
to the City of Elk River which will provide improved tax and employment
opportunities within the City of Elk River.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by City the City Council of the City of Elk River that

the Council does hereby find that the temporary use of the Milton Salk
Junior High School by Tescom Corporation is in the City. of Elk River's
best interest, inasmuch as said use will provide no adverse impacts in
the City of Elk River, and in fact does provide a benefit to the communi-
ty by facilitating the permanent location of Tescom Corporation within
the City of Elk River which will improve the City's tax base and provide
employment opportunities which are badly needed within the City; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that the
Council hereby pledges its support and encouragement to Tescom Corpora-
tion including but not limited to the issuance of industrial revenue
bonds, if necessary and appropriate to aid in the permanent location of
the Pressure Controls Division of the Tescom Corporation within the con-
fines of the City of Elk River.
